Hello! My name is Christina Gouveia, RMT and I have gratefully been in practice since 2011 having graduated from Sutherland-Chan Massage School in Toronto.
I truly love this field, being a practitioner first and educator second. I enjoy the ongoing learning opportunities that come with this profession such as attending the Canadian Massage Conferences, keeping up to date with courses so as to expand my knowledge base and explore new areas of interest.
My practice focus is 3 fold:
1. My primary interest area is Therapeutic Breast Massage;
-
Scar Tissue Release & Hydro Therapy, and
-
Preconception, Prenatal, Postnatal and infant massage.
I have a special interest in Cranial-Sacral techniques which have greatly benefited those with concussions, oncology patients & long term palliative care patients.
More about Therapeutic Breast Massage, Scar Tissue & Hydrotherapy:
Incorporating manual lymphatic drainage helps provide relief to those with fibrotic breast tissue, lactating mothers, mild mastitis conditions, decrease lymphedema from mastectomy and chest implantations such as pace makers and PICC line catheters.
I love a challenge and releasing scar tissue is effective when using Hot Stone Therapy, incorporating Advanced Myofascial Release techniques, dynamic passive stretching, Silicone Cupping and athletic taping post treatment.
I have successfully treated those with abdominal & chest wall scars, Caesarean scars, breast tissue surgical procedures and post surgical conditions such as cording and webbing.
- Preconception, Prenatal, Postnatal and infant massage. Our bodies need specific care whilst we are preparing for carrying another human, massage during the rapid growth phase and of course, post partum and infant massage. Babies grow by the hour and they need all the soothing help they can get.
My goals are to meet clients, assess their treatment goals, educate them about their condition, start a realistic treatment plan and demonstrate the benefits of regular massage therapy treatments.
My future endeavours include Thai Massage Certification and becoming an Osteopathic Manual Therapist.
